This curriculum is designed for more competitive debaters desiring a more rigorous orientation.  The “Experienced Seminar” program is modeled after the teaching methods employed by our own college programs.  Students who are accepted for the program will work as a team researching both sides of the topic, sharpening both their knowledge of the topic and debate in a cooperative and interactive seminar-style environment. Group seminars will be held regularly on recent advancements in critical theory, the philosophical underpinnings of the topic, and in-depth explorations of the public-policy slice of the resolution. However, we don’t forget Policy Debate.  With our well balanced staff, we have one of the best policy curriculum in the country.  We will balance the necessity for generic mainstays and with case specific strategies.

Session 2 is designed to give students real tournament experience. With the additional days, students will get the experience of more lab leader directed research and the opportunity to "pull the gloves" at the tournament. When the Experienced Seminar debate each other at the tournament, they will have the ability to run any argument they want - which means detailed discussion of tricky well-research strategies with the important element of surprise. This session for the Experienced Seminar will turn debaters into innovators.

SUMMER SURVIVOR EXPERIENCED SUPERSESSION:

The most intensive program UTNIF has ever offered is back for a second year! Spanning the length of the summer (June 22-August 3, 2008), this unique program follows a separate pace and schedule from the rest of the camp, giving them the flexibility to take full advantage of the time they spend. Led by Jairus Grove (Harvard debate coach, International Relations Fellow at Johns Hopkins University, NDT semifinalist, 2nd speaker at the 2000 NDT, and former director of the Chicago Debate Commission), participants will be treated as a competitive squad, dividing case and research assignments, completing opposition research and tournament preparation, and learning the methods of collegiate NDT and CEDA style debating. — $5,499
